Like all Clan warriors, Fox was bred for combat. He did not excel at this, and was
deemed only average throughout his successful career. Although he did not
become a top Nova Cat warrior, he would get the job done, both before and during
the invasion. Though he was not a part of the Tukayyid 'mistake' (as he likes to
call it), Fox deeply felt the loss. After the truce, he maintained his success as a
warrior for the Nova Cats, until age became a factor and he simply fell into the
ranks of the Solahma. He did not resent or feel any anger at this fact, and
accepted it as the way of the Clans. It also did not effect his battlefield efficiency.
Fox typically fought with other warriors who shared his feelings. He found comfort
in the fact that he was neither alone in his age nor his solahma rank. His status as
Star Commander gave him much pride, ensuring he could serve his Clan to the best
of his abilities.
Fox's transfer to the Strikers teamed him with some rather uncanny Clansmen. He
saw some hope for Jarred and Cyric. He believed Dante's focus on technician
interests was unnatural and taboo for a Clan warrior. Fox was primarily
disappointed with his reassignment to the Strikers because of Shard. Fox was one
of many who believed Shard should not have remained in the ranks of the Nova
Cat warrior caste, as he did not fit into the Clans regular concept of honor.
Fox's BattleMech was an Inner Sphere Bushwhacker. The Mech's history of
success seemed to support his opinion that the Bushwhacker is an ideal command
Mech. Its stubborn armor, mild weapon array, and high speed allowed it to
perform command duties while under Fox's guidance.
During an attack by Word of Blake death squads in 3068, Mechwarrior Fox was
able to make contact with the Blakist attackers and divert them through the Clan
system of batchall. The main strike force that would have hit the Strider's Strikers
base head-on was instead led into a chase of the retreating forces. The steep
canyon through which the Blakists were corralled allowed Fox and his solahmas to
block the way. The small Clan group's bid of 5 Mechs to the Blakists' 36 stood no
chance of victory. Mechwarrior Fox's bid did succeed however in buying time for
the evacuating units of the Strikers. Because the Blakists had ignored bidding
honorably in a move to quickly defeat their foes, the solahma force were utterly
destroyed and none taken prisoner. All solahma warriors were able to find comfort
in meeting an end well within their Clan culture's context of glory and honor.
