Working as a tech for several years, Carl Phagen had been around BattleMechs
for most of his life. During his first piloting experience, Carl was instructed to take
a Mech for a test drive to test out it's new MASC system. He first learned how to
master balancing the machine. Once he had acquired this skill, Carl had more fun
than he expected when "firing up" the Mech's MASC. Up until his death, Carl
remained a tinkerer of his 20-ton Wasp. Carl had hoped to one day install the
MASC system to increase his Wasp's top speed.
Carl was among the many killed in the firebombing of a barracks facility. The
Blakists responsible caught he and his company by surprise, killing most of them
very quickly. Carl was among the many sleeping at the time of the actual bombing.
