Savalas...
Mechwarrior Savalas was chosen by his superiors to monitor Nova Cat/Steel Viper
relationships within the Strider's Strikers. Though some of the Steel Vipers feel he
is somewhat of a spy, others find him worthy of their respect. He is indeed worthy
of at least some respect considering his BattleMech assignment, the highly
symbolic and very rare 70 ton Nova Cat. Intended to display the prominence of
the Nova Cats within the Strider's Strikers, the Nova Cat Mech is joined by
several classic Clan designs such as the Warhawk and Turkina. Though piloted by
Steel Viper members, these Mechs are also intended to openly display the
cooperation of Warden Clans with Inner Sphere forces.
Savalas can often be found gambling with Inner Sphere members of the Strikers.
His vice often profits him both financially and culturally as he learns much about
the ways and traditions of Inner Sphere peoples. He has so far enjoyed his
assignment to work with the Strikers' mercenaries, though the team has seen much
loss in more recent years. He has made many friends amongst the Strikers' finest,
including infantry commanders Ryan Harrison and William Pay.
Savalas hopes to prove himself as a liaison to maintain his important position. The
liaison side of his job involves creating profiles of social interactions between the
new Steel Viper Wardens and the already established Nova Cat members. So far
the Vipers appear to behave as normal new recruits. They often find themselves
uncomfortable during social events amongst veterans of the mercenary force.
Challenges between both Clans, as well as the Inner Sphere members, have been
declared and resolved numerous times. This has proven that Clan tactics and
culture have been at least partially imported, or partially recognized, by the Inner
Sphere members of the mercenary unit. Savalas believes the Inner Sphere
members are acting as a buffer, relieving some of the tension between the two
Clans. Though Clan warriors have scoffed at such a theory, evidence does support
his belief. Fewer Clan versus Clan challenging occurs when Inner Sphere members
of the unit are present during times of conflicting interest.
Savalas has fulfilled his superior's requests, sending weekly data sheets back to
Nova Cat officials. It is likely he will continue to be a successful member of the
Steel Viper Beta star. Though he has slowly gained some support from his
starmates, other Steel Vipers are still suspicious of his behavior and purpose. In
the meantime, Savalas continues acting as both a logistical officer for the Nova
Cats and a Mechwarrior for the Strikers.
Savalas has become a center-point within the Clan portion of the team. He is seen
by most as the individual who has integrated the most with the Inner Sphere's way
of life. This has had both positive and negative effects on his reputation. He is
seen as one of the most helpful Clan warriors by most Inner Sphere pilots, and has
become a trusted ally in balancing the two sides of the unit. However his
integration has come at great cost by setting him at odds with the more influential
members of the hard-line Clan portion of the team, namely Sasha Breen and her
inner circle of Steel Viper pilots.
