After fighting the Clans for 4 years through a volunteer military service, Mizuho
Yamada had grown tired of her enemy.  She believed that together, Clans Nova
Cat and Ghost Bear would eventually take over her nation.  Originally born on
Luthien in the Draconis Combine, Mizuho had always given strong support to
House Kurita so that it might somehow triumph over its enemies.
At the conclusion of Operations Bird Dog and Bulldog, the political leaders of
House Kurita and the Draconis Combine decided to welcome one of their former
Clan enemies into their nation.  The Nova Cats, a Warden Clan whom had made
the decision to stop fighting and start aiding the Inner Sphere forces, were
welcomed into the Combine and given their own home in the Irece Prefecture.
Along with Mizuho, several million citizens had newfound feelings of rebellion
towards their nation's leader, Theodore Kurita, who had made the decision to
welcome the Clan culture into the Combine.
Mizuho's brother created his own rebel force, one he hoped could eventually
remove the Nova Cats from his home in the Labrea system.  He urged Mizuho to
join his small unit.  Despite her extreme hatred of the Nova Cats, Mizuho
decided she wouldn't.  Instead she began an 8-month soul search that she
hoped would help her to find a cure for her nation's problem.  After months of
exploring possible solutions and meditating on others, Mizuho decided to open
her mind and try to cooperate with the Nova Cat citizens that now lived in the
Irece Prefecture.  Viewing the Nova Cat military as the worst part of the Clan's
culture, she decided to face the source of her problem head on.
Looking for ways of helping or supporting her one-time worst enemies, Mizuho
learned of the Nova Cat project that had been designed to help the Cats
themselves to cooperate with the Combine's citizens.  This project was
originally classified for the first five years, but it was later opened to the public
to show the success of its test.  The Nova Cats had picked one of their top
warriors, Devon Carns, to fight alongside a small band of mercenaries.  Given
the widely known hatred that Clan warriors have for mercenaries of the Inner
Sphere, Mizuho was surprised that the Nova Cats had entered into such a pact.
With a new respect for the Nova Cats and their culture, Mizuho decided to join
the Strider's Strikers team as a way of encountering Nova Cat warriors.
Though she is sometimes blinded by her now-passing hatred of the Nova Cats,
Mizuho generally performs well in her Strider's Strikers lance.  She occasionally
butts heads with Clan members of the team, but she is learning about the Nova
Cats and slowly gaining some acceptance of them.  She has experience from
her previous volunteer service, as well as her help in the campaign against the
    Blakists in 3065 and 3066.
During the fighting withdrawal of Strider's Strikers units from their temporary
base in late 3068, Mizuho and her lancemates under the command of Hayato
Rihaku were ordered to protect their defensive position from the incoming
Blakist forces.  During the lance's deployment, they were ambushed by Blakist
forces who had already infiltrated the area around their position.  Because of a
critical hit, Mizuho was unable to aid her lancemates and was faced with sure
death or retreat.  She chose the latter option, and was successful in boarding
    the Dropship.
Her lance leader Hayato was also able to survive the encounter, but because of
bad decisions on his part the other lancemates were killed.  Mizuho felt guilt
after her Dropship had left planet, but she recovered through her wisdom from
previous war experience.  She now worries about her lancemate though, as
Hayato was demoted and lacks much of his previous abilities because of
    psychological effects from the tragedy.
