[dcs_p]Alec answered his foe with a double volley of his long range missiles and one of
his large lasers. The laser scored an instant hit on the 65-ton Blakist Lightray
Mech, burning off armor with a searing blast of heat. The missiles criss-crossed
across the jutting hills separating the two Mechs to converge on the enemy
Lightray’s left leg. Most of the missiles hit near the ankle area and the enemy
machine instantly lost its footing. It landed with a screeching crash on its
misshapen chest, with its torso-mounted weapons assembly ripping off under the
stress.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]Minus one weapon. Alec smiled.
The tide of battle had quickly turned as the Blakist attackers began to meet stiff
resistance from the reinforced Crusaders’ Mechs. Holden Trumphay and his
lance were keeping their word, doing the best they could with their medium
Mechs. The small group worked nicely for Alec as long range fire support,
raining down missiles on anyone the Crusaders directed them at. It was
becoming apparent the enemy was disorganized and seemingly short on supplies,
even though they had supposedly secured the planet after taking over Strider’s
Strikers base of operations. Alec knew the Blakists were being aided by a large
other group known as the Denouncement. The sect of scientists and technicians
also apparently had a bone to pick with Strider’s Strikers.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]”Alec, watch your left.” It was Jean Leia speaking, Alec’s protege. “They are
coming around.”[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]After a brief pause, she cried out a warning as a volley of missile
appeared in the distance just north of Alec’s Grand Crusader.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]The barrage’s smoke blew away quickly in the desert wind, revealing a 70-ton
Archer in its wake. Jean’s own 65-ton Crusader answered the attack on her boss,
spitting 40 LRMs back at the other Mech. This attack was then countered by the Archer’s
partner, a Draconis Combine Lancelot apparently piloted by the Blakist’s Black
Dragon allies. The pilot seemed more than capable with the Lancelot’s lasers, cutting
deep grooves into the Crusader’s chest. Things were definitely heating up. The
Blakists appeared to be regrouping for an attempt to take down the Crusaders’
command lance.
