[dcs_p]As Sawaka drew near the glow of the warehouse’s dim lights, she armed her
own equipment. She loaded the high tech lock pick with a round of explosive
charge. Just as she reached the side door on the rear wall of the building, she
pressed the pick’s trigger. The device kicked silently in her hand as a muffled
thump blew clean holes completely around the door’s primary electronic lock.
She looked back to the R and D building, where four guards had converged under
the brightly-lit main entrance. They seemed mystified by the situation before
them. With no apparent evidence of an infiltration, they entered the building to
seek out the invader anyways.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]Sawaka looked back to the door before her, pressing the pick to its second lock.
Another quick blast removed the cheap standard lock in less than a second.
Finally she worked at the third, the most primitive of the three systems the door
featured. It required only a swift kick to break it from the reinforced wooden
edge of the door frame.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]She worked her way inside slowly to avoid any last traps or security systems.
Luckily none existed to slow her. The inside of the building apparently boasted no
security whatsoever. Indeed it was a sprawling expanse revealing almost nothing
save a lone stack of crates along the western-most wall.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]Tough times must have hit, she thought. ROM’s previous attack on the company
had been a financially executed one. The shares of Tahn Industries had dropped
nearly thirty percent since last week. The effect would no doubt be a long lasting
one. Tahn Industries had gone from the sixth largest to the brink of bankruptcy in
only a matter of days.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]Sawaka scanned the room, still searching for the security she wagered must be
present somewhere. Not a single guard could be found. Weird.
Before she could come to any solid conclusions, her thoughts were interrupted by
a blast of automatic gunfire. Her training kicked in immediately, dropping her to
land on her right side just as she brought her heavy pistol up into a rough aim.
Even by the time her elbows burst into pain as they hit the floor simultaneously,
Sawaka still found no sight of her attacker.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]Not wanting to waste the expensive, rare shells for her prototype weapon,
Sawaka instead rolled into a twisting motion to boost her evasive actions. She
flipped her IR goggles over her head in mid-roll, switching them on just as a
second volley of shells burst into the wall behind her. The silhouette before her
was both plain and predictable.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]A Purifier Battle Armor stood along the far stretch of wall to her left. The cloaked
armored suit was a favorite of those employed by the Blakists.
Sawaka switched her targeting reticule on and tracked her aim across her IR
enhanced vision. She fired two of the prototype shells at her target before going
into another roll. She prayed silently that her ‘backup’ would arrive soon.
To her surprise, the timed explosives of her ammunition failed to detonate. She
had been depending on this weapon to even the odds somewhat, but was no
better off than before. The spent shells bounced harmlessly into the enemy
battle armor.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]It was then that she realized she’d used a different sort of ammo than she was
intending to fire. Her carelessness nearly cost her a leg or an arm, but the
Purifier’s second burst of high powered ammunition blasted holes along the floor
instead. Sawaka wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.[/dcs_p]
