[dcs_p]The enemy pilot was no fool, and he quickly changed course to avoid additional
fire from Sasha’s Battle Cobra. But the damage was done. Sasha was not
missing any shots. The blasts from her four extended range medium lasers
cored straight into the Nexus’s inner workings.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]The damage was immediately evident. The Nexus pilot – who’d sought to turn his
machine around in a split second – had instead sentenced the Mech to a fatal
collision with the rocky canyon floor. The machine’s trajectory stayed the same
while its facing changed. Its right ankle shattered at the joint. The Mech followed
suit as it smashed and slid its way in a horrible series of screeches across the
rock. The brittle shale crumbled under the multi-ton assault, adding more bluish
smoke to the air. When the dusty debris finally cleared up enough to bring partial
visibility, Sasha could see her prey once again.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]The Nexus was strewn about the broken shale in half a dozen pieces.
Before she could pause to examine her sensors, a powerful pulse laser cut into
the Battle Cobra’s rear left shoulder. Sasha responded with such elegance that
her opponent failed to realize when she made a complete about-face. With all of
her primary weapons in range, she let loose with her specialized Clan heavy
medium lasers. The light touch of her finger on the trigger brought about an
impossible rise in temperature. She could feel sweat immediately come to the
surface of her pores as she and her Mech struggled to deal with the punishing
heat.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]Fortunately for Sasha, her weapons were doing massive damage to her enemy.
The second Blakist foe was another familiar design, a Blue Flame. The ugly
dog-like Mech was normally a fast threat to its enemies. Sasha’s lasers had
changed all that. The Blue Flame limped down the steep slope from which it had
come only moments before. Its front right leg had disappeared in the savage
laser blast.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]The necessity of walking downhill without one of its front legs had an extremely
deleterious effect on the Blue Flame. Its maneuverability, once its greatest
asset, was completely shot. The Blakist pilot did surprise Sasha though by
sidestepping to dodge her next shots. Admittedly she’d taken hasty aim to finish
her foe off, but she’d largely forgotten about the special ability of quad Mechs
also.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]Sasha performed her own special evasive actions which largely mimicked the
Blue Flame’s own technique to avoid its twin large laser attacks. In doing so she
was confident she’d thrown her opponent for a loop – not many bipedal Mech
pilots could successfully execute something like that. She finished up with an all
out attack by cycling through each of her primary weapons as she balanced the
heat of firing each weapon in succession.[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]The Blue Flame was ripped apart more and more with each blast. It desperately
fired back. All of its shots missed however. By the time Sasha took a break
from firing because of the cumulative heat buildup, the Blue Flame was careening
down the rocky slope out of control. Its pilot ejected safely in a well-timed
miracle. The ejection system fired just as the machine rolled onto its belly into an
upright position.[/dcs_p]
